Ural Owl

Last night on our walk through a nearby park, we heard what we thought to be a ural owl and were most excited. To listen to the call of the ural owl, go here. Whether or not the shy ural owl should actually be calling at this time of year isn't clear to me since it only calls during mating season apparently. Is May mating season in Kyushu? Maybe it is. I would have thought it'd be earlier. In any event, owl or no, the walk through the park last night was entirely lovely. Today is humid and rainy.
